I recently visited this store after finding a wonderful jacket. The staff were friendly and the store was clean, and well stocked. All of the other items bought were high quality and reasonably priced. Overall, I had a pleasant shopping experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for outdoor gear.
This isn't your granddaddy’s L.L. Bean. Sadly, I don’t mean that in a good way.
I'll keep this short and to the point. L.L. Bean made a name for themselves with really well-made apparel / gear and a willingness to stand behind their products. Forever and ever, they had a lifetime warranty that they honored almost all the time. A while back they changed "lifetime" to "1-year" and everyone, me included, lost their minds. I silently protested for a year, but eventually I went back because they still had most other brands beat on quality and I was willing to pay extra money for that.
Flash forward a few years and the other shoe has dropped. Quality has fallen off a cliff over the past 12-18 months. I've had button downs that have lost buttons after a few months, slippers that have literally fallen apart at the seams after 1 winter, and a pullover with 1 sleeve that was 1-inch longer than the other. LL Bean honored the 1-year warranty on the pullover and button-down but denied me relief on the newly open toe slippers. Most tellingly, when I pointed out the poor craftsmanship, I was told that 1-2 years is the expected life for a pair of L.L. Bean slippers. Keep in mind, these slippers cost $110 dollars.
The bottom line is that 1-year is not the length of time that LL Bean is willing to stand behind their products. It's an accurate reflection of how long they expect their products to last on average. REI also offers a 1-year warranty and, though they are a bit pricier, their quality remains consistently solid. I plan to take my business there moving forward.
I am deeply disappointed by the highly unprofessional service at this specific location. It was truly unpleasant to witness. During the holiday season, I observed a woman seeking assistance with a purchase being treated poorly by what appeared to be the manager. The way this customer was handled was extremely rude and dismissive, giving the impression that the manager had no interest in fulfilling her job responsibilities to the best of her ability.
Furthermore, I was shocked to witness the police be called on this African American Woman, who was displaying remarkable calmness and patience while seeking assistance. It was truly disheartening to see such an overreaction from the staff, especially considering the womens composed demeanor. This incident has left me deeply concerned about the professionalism and judgment of the employees at this establishment. Management should look into this.
As a result, I have decided to no longer shop at this location for my items. Instead, I believe the Seaport, Hanover, or Burlington locations would be more suitable alternatives.
Great store with a nice friendly staff. Went in shopping to get some duck boots, and walked out with exactly what I was looking for. The guy in the show section was swamped, but he remained very professional, and friendly. At check out they had a very long line, but it went so quick with the 5 or 6 registers they had open. All and all a great experience, can’t wait to return ...
Great store and everyone is very helpful. This store feels like an extension of the Flagship store in Freeport, Maine. Whenever we visit an L.L. Bean store, it is very rare that we walk away without purchasing any items. I bought a backpack that I needed and also a heavy duty winter coat. The quality is top-notch, the pricing is very competitive to The North Face and Patagonia. The people at L.L. Bean are always very helpful. Thanks and we’ll be back soon!
Unprofessional sales associate, rude disposition disposition from staff did not open store on time on a very cold day! I literally had to call the store and ask them. Are they going to open anytime soon?
Cashier was not very friendly when I said hello. Kind of a condencending experience. Its a nice big store though. Parking is terrible.
My favorite store. Great quality and selection of products. I go through sneakers every two months or less as my dog and I walk about five to ten miles a day. So I bought a new pair of low cut water resistant low cut hiking shoes.
